The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are launched by Samsung at its Unpacked 2017 event in New York. Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ shares same specification except batter battery capacity and display size. Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ will go on sale starting from April 21, and it will come in Midnight Black, Orchid Grey, Arctic Silver, Coral Blue and Maple Gold colours.
One of highlight of both smartphones is its bezel less display (almost) there are a little bezel on the top and bottom of the smartphone, The company called it an Infinity Displays. The Samsung Galaxy S8 offers a 5.8-inch QHD+ (1440×2960 pixels) Super AMOLED display while the Galaxy S8+ comes with a 6.2-inch QHD+ (1440×2960 pixels) Super AMOLED display and both phones are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Samsung also says the smartphones are the first to be certified by the UHD Alliance as Mobile HDR Premium.
Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ are powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC or Exynos 8995 SoC 10nm processor. It includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of expandable storage. Both smartphones offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage that can be expanded up to 256GB via MicroSD card slot. Some Markets (China and Korea) will also get 6GB/128GB variants.
Both phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat integrated with Bixby AI. Bixby is companies own Virtual assistant that features like Google Assistant ans Siri, Bixby also offers Samsung Devices management of T.V., Lights, Refrigerators etc. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ will come with a set of pre-installed apps that will work with Bixby.
Both the smartphones offers a 12-megapixel ‘Dual Pixel Sensor’ rear camera with optical image stabilisation and an f/1.7 aperture. On the front side, an 8-megapixel front camera with autofocus and an f/1.7 aperture. Both devices sport iris scanner, fingerprint scanner, Face recognition, pattern lock and password to unlock the smartphones
The Galaxy S8 measures 148.9×68.1x8mm and weighs 155 grams. The Galaxy S8+ measures 159.5×73.4×8.1mm and weighs 173 grams. Both phones offers metal frame Aluminium body. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are IP68 certified means smartphones are now water and dust resistant. The fingerprint sensor is now shifted to back of phone. The smartphones supports hybrid dual-SIM slots.
Connectivity options, both smartphones include 4G LTE (Cat. 16), Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz, 5GHz), USB Type-C, NFC, Bluetooth v5.0 and GPS. Sensors list include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, magnetometer, barometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, and proximity sensor. Both smartphones comes with Samsung Pay, with NFC and MST connectivity. The Galaxy S8 comes with a 3000mAh battery while Galaxy S8+ comes with a 3500mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ both support wireless charging as well as fast charging.
Samsung also introduced the Samsung DeX dock that convert Galaxy S8 smartphones into a desktop like experiences and that sound like Microsoft Continuum. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will come with new high-performance AKG earphones in the box.
